Clothing & special equipment

Good hiking boots and warm clothing are essential for exploring Yukon’s wilderness.

Weather

May to September is the best time to travel to Yukon with the warmest temperatures and most daylight. You can enjoy hiking cycling and visit parks such as Tombstone and Kluane. This tour runs May to September only. Winter from October to April is the best time for snow activities and for the clearest views of the Northern Lights but conditions are more difficult for exploring mountainous regions with many roads impassable.

Altitude

Areas in national parks such as Kluane, Tombstone and the Top of the World Highway contain high altitudes so it’s important to take winter clothing and pace yourself.
