Clothing & special equipment

The Yukon and Alaska can be cold, even outside winter so be prepared with warm clothing and good hiking boots.

Weather

May to September is the best time to travel to the Yukon and Alaska with the warmest temperatures and most daylight. Note that this tour runs May to September only. Winter from October to April is the best time for snow activities and for the clearest views of the Northern Lights but conditions are more difficult for exploring mountainous regions with many roads impassable.

Altitude

There are high altitudes in mountainous national parks such as Denali and Wrangell-St Elias so it’s important to pace yourself in these areas and be prepared for severe cold.
