Good hiking boots and plenty of layers of warm winter clothing are essential for visiting the Yukon outside summer.

Weather

This trip runs between August and April, the Northern Lights season in the Yukon. The skies are clearest in winter (November-March) but this is also the coldest time of year with temperatures often far below zero and many roads impassable. The most comfortable time to visit for the Northern Lights is August to October and April with temperatures varying 0-12°C. In Vancouver, the weather is best April to September with the warmest, driest weather. It can be quite rainy outside summer so be prepared for wet weather in spring and autumn.
