July is usually the warmest month but note summer (June-August) is also the rainiest season. Winters are long from late October to early April with shorter days, temperatures ranging from zero to -25°C, and snowfall heaviest November to February. Spring (April-June) ranges from cold to mild, while autumn (September-October) has temperatures falling from 12°C to below zero. September to April is the best time to see the Northern Lights with the clearest skies and longer nights.
