Step back into history with a day tour of George Washington’s estate at Mount Vernon.
Located 15 miles south of Washington DC, Mount Vernon is the former residence of America’s first president, George Washington, and a well-preserved example of what life was like during America’s early history.
You’ll be picked up (and dropped off again) in central Washington DC, taken by coach to the estate where you will get to explore the mansion, the beautiful grounds, the stables, the former slave quarters, the Slave Museum, the Education Centre and Washington’s burial site at your leisure – even getting to watch a short biographical film on Washington when he was a General-to-be during the Revolutionary War. Complementing your journey there and back you’ll get to hear the fascinating history of the estate and area from a passionate local tour guide.
