Boasting three distinct beaches, two state parks, a flourishing local dining scene and seaside fun for all ages, Virginia Beach is easily one of the East Coast’s prime coastal locations. Centred around the Oceanfront with its 3-mile boardwalk stretching across 40 city blocks, it is packed with hotels, restaurants and entertainment – all topped off with beautiful ocean views. Warm waters await at Virginia Beach thanks to its location within the Gulf Stream – and you can take your pick of beach along its sandy white coast. For calm shores and the freshest seafood head to Chesapeake Bay Beach; bike, rollerblade or people watch along Resort Beach; or for a more secluded experience, head south to tranquil Sandbridge Beach where nature and wildlife await in the nearby Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge and False Cape State Park.

Away from the shore, you can explore trails through diverse forests and marshlands while also discovering the city’s history. Visit the site of the original colonists’ first landing in 1607 with a walk through First Landing State park or climb Cape Henry, one of the oldest lighthouses in the country.

Don’t forget to dine at one of the many restaurants in Virginia Beach, from signature seafood and farm-to-table hotspots to laid back diners – you can even sample fresh oysters on the Lynnhaven River. And if you want some entertainment head to a comedy show in Town Centre or soak up a symphony performance at the Sandler Centre of the Performing Arts.
