Pacific Northwest

From misty beaches and lush forests to wildlife-filled islands and wooded mountains, few places can compete with the natural diversity of the Pacific Northwest.

There’s no shortage of natural beauty in the United States, and the nature in the Pacific Northwest is something entirely of its own. An enticing mix of vibrant cities and breathtaking natural beauty, raw wilderness is always found within a few miles of any metropolis. The region is concentrated around the states of Oregon and Washington, with parts continuing north into British Columbia, south into Northern California and east into Idaho through the Volcanic Legacy Scenic Byway.

Two world-famous cities lead the way – in their progressive practices and in their reach to all the major sights in the Pacific Northwest – and you’ll find there is as much to see here as there is to do.

Start with Washington’s waterside city of Seattle. Home to world famous coffee (and coffee chains), a thriving music scene, the historic Pike Place Market and the iconic Space Needle, this Pacific metropolis is a hub for tech, arts and culture and America’s finest cup of joe. Outside of the city, nature abounds, with the glacial peaks, lush rainforests, rugged beaches and river canyons of Mount Rainier and Olympic National Park just a short drive away. Across Seattle’s waters lie the San Juan Islands, where a daily ferry ride will take you to endless kayaking, wildlife camping and orca sightings.

Cross into Oregon and you will find enviable natural wonders, friendly locals and one of the West Coast’s coolest cities, Portland. America’s greenest city is home to sensational parks, a thriving craft beer and culinary scene, innumerable art galleries and lively neighbourhoods. A short drive outside of the city takes you to Oregon’s award-winning wine country dotted with charming historical towns, and the stunning scenery of the Columbia River Gorge, Mount Hood and Crater Lake National Park. A few more hours on the road will take you to the rugged cliffs, secluded coves, living tide pools and seaside towns of the spectacular Oregon Coast.

A region designed for epic road trips, national park stays and long weekend breaks, you’ll be sure to find peace and progressivism in this incredible part of the USA.
