El Vado Motel
A historic Route 66 icon re-imagined as a chic, modern retreat in the heart of Albuquerque, the El Vado Motel may have opened back in 1937 but its recent renovation has brought it firmly into the present. A testament to the Pueblo Revival style, El Vado blends classic charm with modern luxury - surprising for a motel classification - and beautiful scenery all around.
Communal spaces are fitted with custom furnishings and local artist, with a palette of colors that reflect the desert landscape. You'll find plush bedding, sleek flat-screen TVs and spacious bathrooms inside each room, and all the amenities of a hotel. Outside, there's a seasonal outdoor swimming pool and the ever-popular sun-drenched terrace as well as an indoor lounge for those looking for shade. Other impressive amenities include its on-site taproom as well as a restaurant, both of which make use of local produce wherever possible.
