The Southern Hotel
A historic hotel in the quaint town of Covington, with a fine-dining restaurant and an upscale bar.
Dating back to 1907, The Southern Hotel was originally established as a retreat for visitors seeking the area’s cool breezes, piney woods and mineral springs. After a full-scale restoration, the hotel reopened and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2015, and has won several awards for its design and preservation.
For the foodies, there are two options: the Gloriette, a French-inspired restaurant with a seasonal menu, or the Cypress Bar, a cosy spot with murals of historic Covington postcards and live music. Elsewhere at the Southern Hotel, there’s a coffee bar, a spa and a courtyard with a plunge pool.
Outside of the hotel you’re in the heart of Covington’s historic district, as well as the Covington Trailhead, a scenic path for biking and hiking.
