Kejimkujik National Park
Kejimkujik National Park in Nova Scotia has gorgeous lakes, rivers and forests, popular for hiking and canoeing.
Kejimkujik is the only inland national park in the Maritimes, a haven for hiking, cycling, kayaking and canoeing.
Named after its largest lake – pronounced Kehji-ma-koojik – the park has 400 square kilometres of rivers and forests. The area was inhabited by the indigenous Mikmaq people for centuries and there are several petroglyph sites in the park.
The main Jeremy’s Bay campground on the lake is near several beaches and an astronomical observation site – the park is a Dark Sky Preserve. There are 15 trails for hiking and cycling in the park, with wildlife including beavers, squirrels, deer and dozens of species of birds.
