When is the best time to visit Houston?

Houston benefits from a warm climate year-round, making it an ideal holiday destination no matter the season. The best months to visit Houston are between February to April and September to November when the weather is at its most pleasant and the city becomes energised with outdoor festivities. Expect highs between 19°C and 30°C and lows between 9°C and 19°C. Summers in Houston are hot and humid with temperatures between May and August regularly reaching the mid-30s, and because of its proximity to the Gulf Coast, the local monsoon season will also bring bouts of rain. A short trip to the coast, like nearby Galveston, will be welcome if you visit in the summer months. Come winter the temperatures cool with daytime highs around 17°C and lows in the single digits, but you’ll still find plenty to do indoors.

Houston is located in the Gulf Coast region of Texas and is an excellent place from which to venture into the Deep South. Drive along the Gulf Coast to Louisiana, and you’ll find yourself on the streets of New Orleans in a few hours. Houston is also home to one of the nation’s busiest international airports making it an ideal hub for travelling into Latin America as well.
