Grasslands National Park
Grasslands National Park has herds of bison and antelope roaming miles of dry prairies on the edge of the Badlands.
This national park contains one of the few remaining areas of undisturbed dry prairie grasslands in Canada with diverse wildlife including bison, antelope, prairie dogs, coyotes and owls.
Less than 30km from the border with the US state of Montana, the park is divided into West and East blocks. The West block has over 300 plains bison in the Frenchman River Valley, and one of the best hikes to 70 Mile Butte, over 100 metres above the surrounding plains. The East block has more rugged wilderness with impressive views of the Badlands at Rock Creek.
The park also has archaeological digs including dinosaur fossils, and is a Designated Dark Sky Preserve, ideal for star-gazing.
