When is the best time to visit Sawtooth Mountain Area?

The best time to go to the Sawtooth Mountain area is between June and September when the weather is sunny and warm, and you can take advantage of all the incredible outdoor activities. Summer temperatures stay in the low to mid 20s, so you’ll be able to enjoy yourself without having to worry about any extreme heat. Spring and autumn the temperatures fall between the high teens and single digits, but because of the humid climate, it only feels moderately cool. The changing autumn colours make an autumn trip scenic and the melting of the snow in spring means one can engage again in warm weather outdoor pursuits. Winters are very cold with daytime temperatures hovering at or below freezing. Heavy snowfalls occur six to nine times a month, so if you are an avid backcountry or cross-country skier, you’ll be in for a treat. The alpine lakes also freeze over making for stunning scenery as well.
