When is the best time to visit Mesa Verde National Park?

The best time to go to Mesa Verde National Park is between May and early October when all of the sites can be accessed, and the park rangers are on hand to offer guided tours. Daytime temperatures during these months range from 19°C in the shoulder months to 29°C in the peak of July. Humidity is low so the heat is tolerable. Nighttime temperatures generally stay in double digits making this time of year ideal for camping as well. Winter is also a worthwhile time to visit Mesa Verde even if the main sites are closed. The many snowshoeing and cross-country skiing trails offer excellent opportunities to view wildlife, and a peaceful back country that you can enjoy all to yourself.
