When is the best time to visit Grand Teton National Park?

With elevations across the park ranging from 5,975 feet up to 13,775 feet the local climate is characterised by long, cold winters and short, mild summers. The best time to go to Grand Teton National Park is between mid-May and late September when the visitor centres, hiking trails and other park activities are open and accessible. The daytime temperatures will range from the high teens to the high 20s and nighttime lows will stay a few degrees above freezing. Come October, winds rise, temperatures drop, and cold weather sets in until early May. Daytime temperatures will be at, or below freezing and heavy snowfall is to be expected. That said, winter sport enthusiasts will find that winter is still a prime time to travel to Grand Teton National Park with numerous options for both skiing and snowshoeing.
