When is the best time to visit Custer State Park?

Custer State Park can be visited year round with activities available across every season thanks to a milder climate brought about by warm Chinook winds. That said, the weather in Custer State Park still mirrors much of the Rocky Mountain region in that the months of May to early October are the best time to visit. Late spring and early autumn bring pleasant weather for hiking with daytime temperatures ranging from 19-22°C. Summers are very warm with highs between June and early September sitting in the high 20s, and winters are cold yet calm with temperatures between November and early April hovering just above or below freezing.
