Montreal is proud of its Gallic heritage with an historic Old Town, great gastronomy and the largest population of French speakers outside Paris. Canada’s second largest city was nicknamed the “city of a hundred bell towers” by author Mark Twain, famous for churches such as Christ Church Cathedral and the stunning interior of Notre Dame Basilica.
Montreal also has fantastic cuisine so head to Quartier Latin and Le Village where the cafes and bistros are strikingly Parisian. It’s obligatory to try 'poutine' – chips covered in gravy, cheese and bacon.

Don’t miss Montreal Museum of Fine Art in the Golden Square Mile with 43,000 artworks and relics, The Canadian Centre for Architecture, and the Leonard Cohen Crescent Street Mural, a tribute to the musician who hailed from the city.
To experience nature in the heart of the city, Montreal Biodome has five eco-systems, while the Botanical Garden has stunning Japanese and Chinese gardens. The 230-metre peak of Mount Royal commands the best views from the surrounding park. Another beautiful way to experience the city is on a scenic St Lawrence River cruise.
Rue St Catherine is popular for shopping and explore the 20 miles of Underground City, the largest underground complex in the world.
