Olympic National Park FAQs

Find out all you need to know about visiting Olympic National Park.

When is the best time to visit Olympic National Park?

Olympic National Park is renowned for its incredible natural ecosystems, but with that comes a wide variety of climates and weather. The best time to visit Olympic National Park is generally in the summer months of June to August when the weather is mild across the park – daytime highs around 20°C – and the peninsula sees the lowest rainfall.

The other seasons have their merits too, with Olympic National Park technically an all-year destination. Autumn is stunning with its incredible colours, and the temperatures from summer usually last into September, only changing and increasing in rainfall come October and November. Daytime highs will drop to the teens and snow is already a possibility at the park’s higher elevations.

Winter, which lasts from December until mid-March, is the area’s wettest season, with rain falling most days at lower elevations and snow falling in the mountains. That said, if you can brave the cold, Olympic National Park is a highly underrated winter holiday destination.

Spring, which lasts from mid-March right until the end of May is characterised by its unpredictability. Temperatures do generally get warmer this time of year, but rain, snow and cold can still occur depending on where you are within the park.

What is the time difference between the UK and Olympic National Park?
