Bellingham FAQs

Find out all you need to know about visiting Bellingham.

When is the best time to visit Bellingham?

Bellingham is a year-round destination, with outdoor activities no matter the season. But undoubtedly the most popular time to visit is between mid-June and September when the weather is at its warmest and driest. Daytime highs will go up to 25°C making it an ideal time for hiking. The shoulder months to summer of April to early June and October are equally good for visiting as conditions generally remain mild with daytime temperatures ranging from 14C to 20C.

The weather will be different depending on what elevation you are at, and come winter, snowfall and rain are heavy. The winter season runs from November to March and certain parts of the park can be closed due to challenging conditions. But for those who can bear the cold, a welcome winter holiday awaits.

What is the time difference between the UK and Bellingham?

Bellingham is well located for visiting the abundant wildlife in the San Juan Islands, and a short drive and ferry ride will take you to any one of the four main islands of this protected archipelago. Bellingham is also conveniently positioned for a trip to Washington’s capital, Seattle which is just 1.5 hours away by car. Head down Interstate highway 5 or take the scenic Chuckanut Drive to get there. For those looking to travel beyond the state’s borders, the Amtrak train line operates daily journeys up to Vancouver, BC and down to California’s cinematic capital, Los Angeles.
