Clothing & special equipment
Ontario is cold in winter and hiking is often wet in spring and autumn so be prepared with warm clothing and good hiking boots.
Weather
Summer (June-August) is the best time to visit Ontario with the most sunshine and drier weather, and often hot in southern Ontario. Winter (November-March) can be very cold in northern and eastern Ontario with more snow and peak season for winter sports, while less severely cold in the Great Lakes. Spring (March-May) and autumn (September-October) are often cool to mild with more rainfall. The autumn colours make this a popular season for visiting rural areas and parks, while spring is a great time to see waterfalls.
