Toronto / Niagara Falls / Niagara-on-the-Lake

Itinerary

Day 1 Arrive in Toronto, CN Tower

Arrive at Toronto Airport where you will be met and taken by luxury private transfer to your hotel.

Explore the vast waterfront and downtown of multicultural Toronto, Canada’s biggest city. Included in your tour is entrance to the CN Tower and a 450-metre ascent offering panoramic views.

Toronto

Days 2-3 Cycle tour and culture of Toronto

Continue to explore the city of Toronto. Take an optional bicycle tour of downtown before checking out the city’s diverse cuisine in neighbourhoods such as Chinatown, Koreatown, Greek Town, Portugal Village and Kensington Market.

Other options in the city are the Royal Ontario Museum with the world’s largest fossil collection, or take a cruise on Lake Ontario.

Day 4 Niagara Falls and Journey behind the Falls

Pick up your hire car this morning and drive south around Lake Ontario to experience a natural wonder of the world, Niagara Falls. Witness the incredible sight of millions of gallons of water – around a fifth of the world’s fresh water – plunging over the sheer cliffs.
There are three sets of falls on the US-Canada border – the American Falls and Bridal Veil Falls on the US side, with the iconic 170-foot Horseshoe Falls on the Canadian side.
The Canadian side offers better views of Horseshoe Falls with more attractions. These include the 175-foot Niagara Skywheel, the observation deck of Skylon Tower, Niagara Falls History Museum and the Niagara IMAX Theatre.
Journey behind the Falls on the Canadian side offers a fascinating alternative perspective (included in your holiday). Elevators descend 125 feet through bedrock to tunnels that lead to the cave-like Cataract Portal and the Great Falls Portal behind the Horseshoe Falls. Then walk on to the Upper and Lower Observation Decks at the very foot of the Falls to see, hear and feel the power of the water.

A highlight in the evening is the nightly illumination of the Falls and fireworks.

Day 5 Niagara Falls helicopter tour and hiking

Get an early start this morning to enjoy incredible views of Niagara Falls before the crowds arrive. Enjoy some of the attractions you may have missed yesterday, then explore hiking trails around the Falls. On the Canadian side, you can hike to the Dufferin Islands, while on the US side, enjoy Niagara Falls State Park and Whirlpool State Park.
A great option is to take a helicopter tour over the Falls for the most spectacular views. Spend another evening enjoying the illuminations and fireworks.

Days 6-7 Niagara-on-the-Lake wine tour and historic sites

Only half an hour north of the falls, Niagara-on-the-Lake was once the capital of Upper Canada. This charming Victorian town is a delightful step back in time with a well-preserved heritage district, colonial buildings, boutique shops and horse-drawn carriages.

Niagara-on-the-Lake is in one of Canada’s foremost wine regions, surrounded by vineyards. The town is particularly famous for its ice wine, a sweet dessert wine produced from grapes frozen on the vine. A tour and wine-tasting at Château des Charmes winery and vineyard is included in your holiday.

Other highlights include Niagara-on-the-Lake Museum and Fort George, used to defend Canada from the USA during the War of 1812. Don’t miss Queen’s Royal Park, which commands views of the Niagara River and Fort Niagara across the US border.

In the evening, enjoy the food and wine in the town’s restaurants and check out the Shaw Festival Theatre, which stages plays written or inspired by the great George Bernard Shaw.
