When is the best time to visit Niagara Falls?

The best time to visit Niagara Falls is summer (June-August) when temperatures usually range 20-25°C with sunny, drier weather, but this is also the busiest time. Winter (November-March) is cold but not as severely cold as elsewhere in Ontario. There is frequent snow and Lake Erie sometimes freezes over in mid-winter. Spring (March-May) and autumn (September-October) are generally comfortably cool but also the wettest time of year.

Niagara Falls is in Eastern Standard Time GMT – 5 hours, with Daylight Saving Time (+ 1 hour) March to November.

What places combine well with Niagara Falls?

Niagara Falls is 1.5 hours from Toronto, and half an hour’s drive south of Niagara-on-the-Lake, so easily combined with a trip to the town. A shuttle bus runs between Niagara Falls and Niagara-on-the-Lake May to October.

Niagara Falls is also easily reached from destinations in the US state of New York such as Buffalo and Rochester.
