Late May to early September is the most comfortable time to visit Northwest Territories with the longest days and warmest temperatures, averaging 10-22°C. July is usually the warmest month. Winters are long from October to April with shorter days, temperatures ranging from zero down to -28°C, frequent snowfall and often impassable roads. Spring (April-June) ranges from cold to mild, while autumn (September-October) has temperatures falling from 10°C to below zero. September to April is the best time to see the Northern Lights with the clearest skies and longer nights.
