When is the best time to visit Gros Morne National Park?
Mid-June to mid-September is the best time to visit Newfoundland’s western region with the warmest weather and most sunshine. May-July is peak season for iceberg spotting, while April to September is best for whale-watching. Temperatures in summer (July-August) range 13-18°C. Rain is relatively frequent in spring and summer with heavier snow in winter (November-April). Winter is long and cold, more so than in the rest of the province. Some restaurants and guesthouses close during the winter months. Spring (May-June) and Autumn (September-October) range from cold to mild but are picturesque times to visit, especially the Fall colours.
What is the time difference between the UK and Gros Morne National Park?
Newfoundland observes Newfoundland Standard Time (GMT – 3.5 hours), unusual because of the half-hour difference, and observes Newfoundland Daylight Time (+ 1 hour) March to November.
What places combine well with Gros Morne National Park?
Newfoundland’s west coast is its most remote region but can be combined with the east and south. St Anthony is eight hour’s drive from Twilingate on the east coast, while Gros Morne National Park is over six hour’s drive from St John’s in the south. This region is sometimes combined with Labrador to the north.
