When is the best time to visit The Berkshires?

The Berkshires are a year-round destination but the best time to visit is May to October when the weather is warmest and sunniest. Summer (June-August) has average temperatures of 20-26°C and is the best time to enjoy a range of events and performances, while autumn (September-October) is the best time to enjoy the spectacular Fall colours, especially in October. Spring (April-May) ranges from cold to mild with temperatures 4-15°C and frequent showers. There is generally more rain in summer and snow in winter in the Berkshires than elsewhere in Massachusetts. Winter (November-March) has temperatures from 7°C down to -10°C with snow most common December-February.

The Berkshires uses Eastern Standard Time (GMT – 5), observing Daylight Saving Time (GMT – 4) March to November.

What places combine well with The Berkshires?

The Berkshires are easily combined with other Massachusetts destinations, being two hours’ drive west of Boston. Cape Cod is three hours south-east, the Green Mountains of Vermont are an hour to the north, Albany in New York State an hour north-west, and Mystic in Connecticut two hours to the south.
