Admire the unspoiled beauty of Chemin-A-Haut State Park in Bastrop whilst riding along one of the equestrian trails. If you prefer to keep your feet firmly on the ground, you might prefer to hike towards the view overlooking Bayou Bartholomew.

Despite being just 15 minutes from the hustle and bustle of New Orleans, Bayou Segnette State Park is a haven for nature lovers. Hike through the park and observe American alligators, armadillos, red-tailed hawks, and bald eagles, as well as interesting flora and fauna in both the woodlands and marshlands.

The Louisiana State Arboretum State Preservation Area in Ville Platte is paradise for horticulturists. Discover plant species that are indigenous to the state and spot wildlife, such as white-tail deer, wild turkey, and skunks, living in the arboretum.

enjoy louisiana by the water

Fontainebleau State Park in Mandeville is located on the picturesque shores of Lake Pontchartrain. Take a leisurely stroll along the sandy beaches or take to the water in a sailboat.

Accessible by car, Cypremort Point State Park near the Gulf of Mexico provides a peaceful setting for sailing, kayaking, fishing, crabbing, water skiing, and windsurfing.

the best places to stay in louisiana

Stay in one of the colourful cabins at Tickfaw State Park in Springfield and you can enjoy an evening hike through the forests as well as observing the activity on the swamp after the sun sets.

Get back to nature at Sam Houston Jones State Park in Lake Charles where you can camp in tents beneath the longleaf pines. An abundance of wildlife inhabits the park and nearly 200 species of birds can be seen in the skies and on the ground.
