Great West

Overview & Highlights

Endless landscapes, limitless skies and desert rocks abound in this striking part of the United States, and with this trip you’ll get to immerse yourself in the awe-inspiring natural wonders of the American West. You’ll be starting and ending in Las Vegas – a key location for accessing everything from Death Valley to the Grand Canyon – before starting a road trip through Utah’s world-famous National Parks.

Arrive amongst the neon lights of the Las Vegas Strip. This city might be renowned for its glitz and kitsch, but it is also a one of the most well-placed cities for accessing the incredible nature in this part of the United States. Choose a privately guided day tour to Death Valley, the Grand Canyon, Red Rock Canyon or Valley of Fire – you might even be able to fit in more than one. You’ll then head to Utah’s adventure capital, Kanab. This small desert town is the gateway to the Grand Canyon and Zion and Bryce Canyon National Parks. It’s also just around the corner from the lesser known geological wonders of Peekaboo Slot Canyon and White Pocket, and you’ll find there’s more to explore than you can fit in before heading to the Grand Canyon North Rim.

Less visited but no less magnificent, the Grand Canyon North Rim is for those who enjoy the road less travelled, with abundant wildlife, hiking trails and unparalleled views – it’s a place where you’ll want to take your time. And once you have, you’ll travel to Lake Powell right next to the border town of Page in Arizona. There lies the otherworldly Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend and a full day’s worth of exploration. The next day you’ll be visiting the iconic Monument Valley. Immortalised in Western films, you’ll be guided around this breathtaking expanse by a Navajo guide instead of just driving through.

You’ll then continue along a scenic byway to one of the most sought-after towns in the West, Moab. Utah’s iconic and rugged adventure centre, it boasts some of the darkest skies in the country. It’s also situated right between both Arches and Canyonlands National Parks so you can do some incredible hiking. Pass through the former pioneer town of Boulder for some pampering or additional hiking before spending a couple of nights in both Bryce Canyon and Zion National Parks. From horseback riding around Bryce Canyon to taking a guided tour through Zion’s The Narrows, these last few days will offer some of the most beautiful sights, with wonderful memories to accompany them.
