Salt Lake City FAQs

Find out all you need to know about visiting Salt Lake City.

When is the best time to visit Salt Lake City?

Salt Lake City experiences all four seasons – Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter – and with plenty to do year-round, the best time to visit really depends entirely on what you want to do. But generally speaking, May to September are the best months to visit Salt Lake City for outdoor exploration.

Spring is mild and pleasant with daytime high between 16°C and 21°C, and one can ski and golf on the same day until mid-April. Summer can be hot in Salt Lake City’s valley with temperatures hovering around 30°C, but the mountain areas surrounding the city proper are usually cooler and just right for a day of hiking or mountain biking. Come autumn, Salt Lake City boasts vibrant colours with changing leaves everywhere you look. Autumn is also a great time to visit as September and October remain pleasantly warm and mild. Winter might be cold and snowy with temperatures regularly hovering around freezing, but that’s why Salt Lake City is known for having some of the ‘Greatest Snow on Earth’ as the city and its surrounding areas transform into a wonderland for fans of winter sports.
