Clothing & special equipment

Bring practical, comfortable clothing and a light-weight jumper or jacket. For any hiking, light and supportive walking boots with good grip are essential. Shorts and T-shirts are also a must when travelling in late spring, summer or early autumn, as are a sun hat and sunglasses. Protective clothing such as a fleece and/or waterproof outer shell are advisable if you travel in winter. Please get in touch before departure if you have any doubts as we can advise appropriately.

Weather

America’s Southwest has a dry, semi-arid climate filled with endless desert landscapes. Spring and autumn are the best seasons to visit as the weather will be pleasantly warm for outdoor exploration with temperatures between 19°C and 27°C from March to May and September to November. The summer months are less than ideal as temperatures can be hot in the extreme with daytime highs regularly hitting the high 30s, and winters can be cool.
