When is the best time to visit Monument Valley?

Monument Valley can be visited year-round, but the best time to travel to this stunning high-desert environment is during spring and autumn when the temperatures stay in the low 20s, and the peak summer tourist season thins out. Expect warm, sunny days and pleasantly cool nights. Summer heat begins in late May with temperatures reaching up to the mid-30s until the end of August, but it’s still a picturesque time to visit if you can handle the temperatures. Winter in Monument Valley can be cold and windy and the daytime highs hover around single digits, so you’ll need to pack layers if you decide to visit then.

What places combine well with Monument Valley?

If you’re interested in seeing more natural wonders around America’s Southwest, head west to see the otherworldly Antelope Canyon or northwest to Glen Canyon National Recreation Area to spend a day or two on the incredible Lake Powell. The world-famous Grand Canyon is just an easy 2.5 hour drive away as well.
