Lake Powell

Lake Powell FAQs

Find out all you need to know about visiting Lake Powell.

When is the best time to visit Lake Powell?

The best time to go to Lake Powell is between the months of April and October when one can make the most of this incredible outdoor setting. Late spring offers mild temperatures – daytime highs in the low 20s – and quiet waters just before the peak tourism season takes off. Summer is sunny and hot with temperatures up to the mid-30s. But with breathtaking sunsets and numerous water sport opportunities, this the perfect time of year to go. Autumn is equally pleasant with warm days – daytime temperatures in the high 20s – cool nights, great fishing and less boat traffic. Winters at Lake Powell are tranquil and ideal for a peaceful getaway. Bear in mind though that the temperatures between November and March are chilly. Daytime highs are in the mid-teens and the lows go down to freezing.

The best onward journey from Lake Powell is to take a kayak or small boat along the lake to the awe-inspiring footpaths of Antelope Canyon.
