El Rancho Hotel
A historic hotel in Gallup’s Route 66, complete with Old West charm and a Hollywood legacy.
Step into the past at El Rancho Hotel, a landmark of the Old West and a favorite of the movie stars. Built in 1937 by the brother of the film director D.W. Griffith, the hotel once hosted many famous actors who came to shoot westerns in the nearby locations.
The lobby is adorned with autographed photos, memorabilia and Native American art, each room is named after a famous guest who stayed there, like John Wayne, Ronald Reagan and Katharine Hepburn. Rooms are furnished with antique furniture, comfortable beds and modern amenities – and some even come with a kitchen and a living area.
The on-site restaurant, the Silver Screen Café, serves American and Mexican dishes, while the 49er Lounge offers signature drinks inspired by the stars. Make sure to stop by the Last Trading Post gift shop for authentic Native American crafts and jewelry during your stay.
