Opened in 1926 – turning the Great American Highway into a thing of legend – it was the first corridor across the continent connecting isolated cities and towns by bringing visitors, custom and prosperity in ways that hadn’t previously been achieved.
Today, Route 66 is all about nostalgia and classic Americana. From time-capsule towns and neon signs to vast landscapes and stops full of history, you’ll experience an America of old on this incredible historic road. Start in Chicago and end in Santa Monica, stopping in countless towns and locations along the way, and experiencing the drive that millions have made in search of fun, freedom and the wide, open road.
