Itinerary

Day 1 From Chicago through Indiana to Michigan

Collect your motorhome from the Cruise America depot in Chicago and drive east around Lake Michigan into Indiana, passing Gary, birthplace of Michael Jackson. Then cross into Michigan to your KOA campground, close to Lake Michigan’s beaches. Attractions nearby include the Curious Kids Museum, Indiana Dunes and the Warren Dunes State Park.

Day 2 Detroit, home of Motown

Today you’ll head for Detroit, the home of Motown. You could stop on the way at Full Blast, an exciting water park. Your campsite is a half-hour drive from Detroit and close to the Henry Ford Museum, a huge complex dedicated to American innovation and the car industry. Don’t miss the Motown Museum, honouring the soul pioneers of the legendary record label founded in Detroit.

Day 3 Towering Toronto

Cross from Detroit by bridge or tunnel into Canada. You will pass through Chatham, London and Cambridge, and reach your award-winning campground, just 20 miles from Toronto. For panoramic views, visit the CN Tower, which was the world’s tallest freestanding structure until 2007.

Day 4 Spectacular Niagara Falls

You may choose to spend a day or two more in multicultural Toronto. Then drive around Lake Ontario to Niagara Falls. Take in the Welland Canal, linking Lake Erie and Ontario. Its eight locks allow ships to bypass Niagara Falls. Your campground is just ten minutes from the Falls. Take the famous Maid of the Mist boat tour and enjoy various views of one of nature’s most amazing shows. Visit nearby town Niagara-on-the-Lake and world-class wine producers such as Chateau des Charmes.

Day 5 Rock history in Cleveland

Cross back into the USA today and to Cleveland, Ohio. On the way, consider stopping at the beaches and lagoons of Presque Isle State Park. Cleveland is famous for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, so allow plenty of time to immerse youreself in the history of 20th century music. Stay at Woodside Lake campground south of the city. Aurora Farms Premium Outlet Mall, Geauga Lake and Wildwater Kingdom are all nearby.

· 370km to Streetsboro/Cleveland

Day 6 Rollercoasters and maritime history

You may choose to stay an extra day in Cleveland or continue west to Cedar Point Amusement Park, The Roller Coaster Capital of the World. After getting your fill of adrenaline rides, continue to Stony Ridge KOA to stay overnight. Visit the Inland Seas Maritime Museum at Vermillion, dedicated to the fascinating history of shipping.

· 210km to Toledo East

Day 7 Return to Chicago

Head back to Chicago in four hours today. Your campground is convenient to drive back to Cruise America. Enjoy food and entertainment at the nearby Wild West Town, while another recommendation is the Illinois Railway Museum.

· 420km to Union, Chicago North-west

Day 8 Tour ends in Chicago

It’s an easy 25-km drive to return your motorhome to Cruise America. Alternatively, extend your trip to enjoy a night or two exploring the jazz and blues heritage of the Windy City.
