The Countryside of Philadelphia encompasses the counties of Chester, Montgomery and Bucks with historic sites such as Valley Forge and beautiful scenery in the Brandywine Valley.

A highlight is Valley Forge National Historic Park, which played a key role in America’s Revolutionary War. This is where George Washington’s army camped over the winter of 1777-78. The site has reconstructed cabins, Washington’s headquarters, an Artillery Park and Memorial Arch to the 2,000 men that died that winter. The surrounding park has over 35 miles of hiking trails.

The Brandywine Valley is known as America’s Garden Capital with dozens of horticultural attractions, including the botanical garden at Mount Cuba Center, Chanticleer Pleasure Garden, and 1,000-acre Longwood Gardens, which has 20 gardens, a conservatory and large collection of fountains.

The region also has many historic houses and museums, including the Hagley Museum and the Nemours estate.
