Cape May is the southernmost point of New Jersey and one of the USA’s oldest vacation spots, famous for its beachfront Victorian gingerbread buildings, historic promenade and long stretches of sand.

Climb the 99 steps of Cape May Lighthouse for panoramic views over Delaware Bay, while nearby Sunset Beach is a beautiful spot to find Cape May diamonds, quartz crystals that wash up on the shore.

Cape May is one of the world’s top birding destinations with some 150 species arriving in spring and fall migrations, including warblers, thrushes, tanagers and birds of prey such as bald eagles. The observatory at Cape May Point is a prime location for birdwatching.

Cape May has six wineries, a brewery and range of seafood restaurants, specialising in lobster, oyster and fresh fish, while the outdoor Washington Street Mall is an attractive place for shopping.
