When is the best time to visit Vicksburg?

Vicksburg benefits from a subtropical climate with mild winters and hot, humid summers making it an easy place to visit year-round. Spring and autumn are ideal times to visit if you want to avoid the sweltering heat of summer with temperatures in the mid to high 20s. February and October – which is also the month of the famous Southern Heritage Air show – are particularly recommended as those months are considered the most comfortable with the lowest likelihood of rain. Winters are exceptionally mild with temperatures hovering around the mid-teens, so you can comfortably stroll from one historic home to the next. If you do love sunshine and warmer temperatures though, there’s nothing like a Mississippi summer. The occasional rain shower will help cool you down, as will a stop in any one of Vicksburg’s breweries or restaurants in its historic downtown and riverfront.
