Overview & Highlights
Discover rich culinary traditions, world-renowned hospitality, complex history and the birthplace of modern music, with this all-encompassing tour through the soul of America: the Deep South.
Begin your journey in Nashville, America’s Music City, and home to one of the world’s most impressive music scenes. Get immersed in Country music with a visit to the Country Music Hall of Fame Museum and a live concert at the Grand Ole Opry, and take in the sounds of Rock N Roll, Soul and Blues at your leisure in the innumerable honkytonks around the city. You’ll then head to Memphis to see Graceland, the iconic home of Elvis Presley, and continue your musical journey on Beale Street before delving into the heart-rending history of the Civil Rights Movement in the Deep South.
Next stop is Natchez, where you’ll witness the opulence and wealth of the South before the American Civil War. You’ll also learn all about the Antebellum Era with visits to some of Louisiana’s largest former plantations, like Houmas House and Oak Alley.
Trips to the Tabasco Factory and a cooking class in either Cajun or Creole cuisine will give you a taste of Louisiana’s local heritage, and private tours of Baton Rouge and New Orleans will give you insight into the incredible architecture and history of these two cities. Our expert's opinion
“There’s no more authentic side to America than the Deep South, and this trip offers a taste of all my personal highlights of the region. Don’t miss out on hearing live music in one of Nashville’s honkytonks, and make sure to try the excellent barbecue in Memphis. Take some time to explore the city of New Orleans by yourself – you’ll find something delightful around every corner – and make sure to stop in Natchez. With over 300 years of history on every street, you really get a taste for what America was once like. This whole trip is southern hospitality at its finest.”
