Lauded as one of Georgia’s best state parks, Tallulah Gorge is centred around the two mile long and nearly 1,000 foot deep namesake canyon carved out over centuries by the Tallulah River. Its dramatic beauty and breathtaking gorge can easily be seen from multiple outlooks and along the Tallulah Gorge Rim Trail, and a suspension bridge sways 80 feet above the rocky bottom, providing spectacular views of the river and waterfalls.

Traverse the park’s many trails from challenging hikes to paved paths – there’s even a 10-mile trail where mountain bikers can test their merits. Stop for a picnic or stay overnight at the campgrounds. It’s possible to swim in the river and for the adventurous, there’s a natural waterslide. Those curious about the park’s ecosystem and history can explore the exhibits in the Jane Hurt Yarn Interpretive Centre. If you are looking to stay the night, head over to the former Victorian resort town, Tallulah Falls.
