Overview & Highlights
Watch humpback whales, experience the world’s highest tides, take unforgettable drives through breathtaking coastal scenery, then devour delicious seafood in Canada’s Maritime provinces on this 13-day fly-drive journey.
The maritime provinces on the Atlantic coast are famous for their landscapes and marine life, while the provinces of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island also supply North America with much of its seafood. Lobster in Halifax, chowder in Lunenburg and oysters on Prince Edward Island are just a few mouthwatering specialities to enjoy.
Begin your journey in historic Halifax with its sweeping waterfront and seafaring heritage. Visit the Citadel and the Museum of Immigration before visiting the iconic Peggy’s Cove lighthouse.
Then explore the well-preserved town of Lunenburg, renowned for its colourful colonial buildings and historic schooners docked in the beautiful harbour. Head inland to enjoy the lakes, rivers, forests and hiking trails of Kejimkujik National Park en route to Digby.
Go whale-watching in the Bay of Fundy or rafting on the highest tides in the world. Discover the historic city of Saint John in New Brunswick with its Victorian architecture and famous Reversing Falls Rapids. Then take kayaking trips to St Martins Caves and the sea stacks of Hopewell Rocks before walking on the ocean floor at low tide.
Head across the Confederation Bridge, one of the longest in the world, to Prince Edward Island and historic capital Charlottetown, known as the birthplace of Canada. Explore the island that was the inspiration for Anne of Green Gables.
Now for one of the highlights of your trip – Cape Breton, which frequently tops polls as most beautiful island in the Americas. Follow the world-famous Cabot Trail, one of the world’s most spectacular drives. Stay in beautiful Baddeck and explore the island’s clifftops, highlands, national parks, lakes and French heritage at the Fortress of Louisbourg.
Return to Halifax for more fine dining on sumptuous seafood to conclude your unforgettable tour of the Maritimes.

Our expert's opinion
“Cape Breton is the highlight of the Maritimes for me. We visited in autumn and I couldn’t believe the kaleidoscope of colours on the Cabot Trail – greens, yellows, oranges and reds. It really is one of the world’s most jaw-dropping drives.”
