Muir Woods & Sausalito Tour with Alcatraz Island

In and around San Francisco are a number of noteworthy locations that are well worth a visit if you happen to be staying in the Bay Area for a couple of days, including Alcatraz Island, Muir Woods and Sausalito. So spend a morning taking a guided tour of these three places while you’re in town.

One of San Francisco’s greatest landmarks, Alcatraz Island – once the most secure federal prison in the United States – remains a place of fascination for visitors and locals alike. Take a ferry over from San Francisco and hear about its incredible history on an audio tour.
Next up is the charming seaside town of Sausalito, located just across the Golden Gate Bridge. Boasting views of the San Francisco skyline and waterfront, as well as views of Alcatraz and the Bay Bridge, Sausalito is a picturesque artistic enclave filled with art galleries, restaurants and scenic walkways, and the ever-popular Bridgeway Promenade.

Finish the tour with a stop in Muir Woods National Monument in neighbouring Mill Valley. Most of us have heard of California’s giant redwoods, but did you know you can already visit them just outside of San Francisco? Considered part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, Muir Woods is the only primordial redwood forest in the San Francisco Bay Area, and offers the chance to walk among 1,000 year old giant trees towering 260ft high.
