Alta Lake Whistler

Whistler FAQs

Find out all you need to know about visiting Whistler.

When is the best time to visit Whistler?

The winter sports season runs from December to mid-March across some 200 trails. Whistler receives over 10 metres of snow each year on average but it’s rarely far below freezing during the day. Spring (March to May) arrives with an array of flowers and this is a good time for hiking. Summer (June to early September) is warm but not too hot and the best time for cycling and enjoying the lakes. Autumn (September-October) is one of those spectacular times to ride the Sea to Sky Highway and admire the Fall colours, but it’s also the wettest season.

What is the time difference between the UK and Whistler?

Whistler is in the Pacific Time Zone (GMT -8:00) and switches to Pacific Daylight Time (GMT -7) on the second Sunday in March until the first Sunday in November.

What places combine well with Whistler?

Whistler is only two hours from Vancouver so easily combined with British Columbia’s biggest city. It’s a spectacular drive along the Sea to Sky Highway past the steep fjords of Howe Sound, the lively town of Squamish and the Coast Mountains. If you’re heading further north-east to Thompson and the Rockies, Whistler is an ideal stop on the way.

What are the main cultural events in Whistler?

April – World Ski and Snowboard Festival
May – The Great Outdoors (GO)
July – The Mountain Bike Festival
September – Whistler Village Beer Festival
October – Craft Beer Month
November – Cornucopia
