Clothing & special equipment

Hiking boots and warm weather clothes are recommended for tours in the Rockies, while sunscreen is important in summer and at higher altitudes.

Weather

The best time to visit Western Canada is April to September with the warmest, driest conditions and best opportunities to spot wildlife. Winter tours are possible but note that some roads are not accessible in winter.

Altitude

This tour climbs above 1,000 metres in several places, including Banff and up to 2,000 metres in Icefields Parkway.
