Tweedsmuir Park Lodge

Set on 60 acres of traditional Nuxalk and Ulkatcho territory on the Atnarko River in the Bella Coola Valley, Tweedsmuir Park Lodge boasts prime bear viewing in the surrounding rainforest.

Bear viewing packages are offered from mid-August until mid-October during salmon migration runs when hungry grizzlies hunt and feast along the riverbed. Spot inquisitive mother bears and cubs roaming free across lodge grounds, drift by on the river, gain a bird's-eye view or trek on foot through the Great Bear Rainforest with a knowledgeable guide.

The property consists of the main lodge building with stone fireplace, games room, gym and spa with large outdoor hot tub and a restaurant serving a tasty menu with a West Coast infusion.

Accommodation is in comfortable timber-framed chalets on the fringe of the forest with sweeping mountain views. Chalets are decorated with local artwork with fireplaces, wood panelling, air-conditioning and private bathrooms.

Excursions offered from the lodge include guided nature walks to giant cedar forests on Walker Island, a visit to petroglyph stone carvings and totem poles with a Nuxalk expert, as well as fishing and via ferrata climbing. For something unique, make use of the lodge’s private helipad, giving access to remote areas to enjoy heli-skiing, heli-hiking and heli-fishing.

The Bella Coola Valley is located at the heart of an extraordinary area where the world’s most extensive interconnected fjord system converges with the world’s largest intact temperate rainforest and a dramatic mountain landscape of glaciers, plunging creeks and pristine rivers.
