The Murray family have been welcoming guests to Nimmo Bay since the early 1980’s. Accessible by seaplane from Port Hardy on Vancouver Island, the lodge is ideally located on Mackenzie Sound, a saltwater channel in the Great Bear Rainforest.

The lodge offers great wildlife watching opportunities, from humpback and orca whales to bear cubs learning to catch their first fish. Rich biodiversity and salmon runs attract bears to gather along on the remote shores, and the lodge’s expert guides are certified by the Commercial Bear Viewing Association.

Choose from two-bedroom cabins surrounded by thick forest or on stilts on the waterfront. The lodge has cedar wood hot tubs, a floating sauna hut, fire deck, outdoor rain shower, fitness room, yoga studio and floating restaurant. The resort also has WiFi, in contrast to other lodges which are off grid.

Gourmet food is sustainably sourced, including locally caught seafood, foraged plants, pasture-raised meats and produce from farms on nearby Vancouver Island.

Guests can enjoy heli-hiking, kayaking, paddle boarding, mindful hiking, wellness treatments as well as incomparable wildlife viewing.

The lodge has its own hydro power system fuelled by streams and waterfalls, providing clean drinking water and up to 80% of our resort’s power needs, as well as floating docks in lieu of deforested land. Waste water is converted into clean water suitable for re-entry to the environment.
