Kingfisher Wilderness Camp
Camp in the wilds off northern Vancouver Island at Kingfisher Wilderness Camp and take excursions to watch bears and whales in the surrounding area.
Accommodation is in roomy canvas tents on wooden platforms raised off the ground in the old-growth forests of Hanson Island. Wooden beds, mattresses, sleeping bags and blankets provided. There is a kitchen and dining area made from red cedar, basic toilets and hot showers in outhouses.
The highlights of staying at this camp are the excursions in the Johnstone Strait to kayak with orcas and humpback whales. The waters around the island are home to harbour seals, sea lions, porpoises, humpback and minke whales, while bald eagles nest nearby. The camp is also within easy reach of prime locations for grizzly bear viewing in Knight Inlet.
Transfers are offered by water taxi from Port McNeil on Vancouver Island to Kingfisher’s base camp.
