The brilliant turquoise water of Lake Louise is one of the most iconic sights in Canada with spectacular hiking in the surrounding Banff National Park.
With shining turquoise waters reflecting the surrounding mountains and glaciers, Lake Louise is one of the top sights in Canada – known as the ‘Jewel of the Rockies’. It’s no surprise that the spectacular landscapes make Banff National Park the most visited park in the country.
It’s an unforgettable location for a picnic or a canoeing trip on the lake, and there are extensive hiking trails to enjoy the flowers and wildlife such as goats, elk, deer, and occasionally bears. In winter, the lake freezes over, providing a completely different experience with ice skating, sledding, cross-country skiing and an array of ice sculptures.
The historic Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise that sits on its shore is one of the world’s most stunningly located hotels. About 15km to the south is Lake Moraine, quieter than Lake Louise in terms of visitors but arguably no less spectacular with 10 peaks surrounding it.
