Root Glacier Hike
Enjoy this moderate half-day hike to Root Glacier, one of the most accessible in Alaska’s Kennicott region, for stunning views of the Stairway Icefall and Mt. Blackburn.
After meeting your guide and getting fitted for crampons, you’ll start out on a two-mile guided hike to the Root Glacier.
Explore other-worldly formations of blue pools, waterfalls, canyons, crevasses and moulins – holes created hundreds of feet deep into the ice by the flowing meltwater.
Your local guide will tell you about the natural and human history of the area. This is a moderate hike with some steep sections.
