Overview & Highlights
Fly past North America’s highest mountain, watch huge chunks of ice break off tidewater glaciers, see brown bears fishing for salmon and humpback whales twirl out of the icy Pacific on this once-in-a-lifetime Alaskan fly-drive tour.
The USA’s northernmost state has some of the greatest landscapes on the continent, bursting with wildlife and this tour takes in Alaska’s unforgettable highlights.
From Anchorage, head south to Seward on the Kenai Peninsula. Go kayaking or take a wildlife cruise in Resurrection Bay then hike to the massive Exit Glacier.
Your next stop is Homer, “Halibut Capital of the World”, a haven for anglers in a stunning location. Go whale-watching in the Gulf of Alaska or head to Katmai to watch brown bears fishing for salmon in waterfalls.
Head north via the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center to Girdwood and take an aerial tram up Alyeska Mountain for views of Turnagain Arm’s glaciers and the Chugach Mountains. Continue north of Anchorage to Talkeetna and take a jet boat tour with views of majestic Mt. Denali from the Susitna River.
Now for one of the highlights of your trip - Denali National Park, home to bears and wolves and of course North America’s highest mountain. Explore the Denali Highway on a jeep excursion or take a tundra wilderness tour to see wildlife. Alternatively, view Denali from above on a summit flightseeing tour, passing within half a mile of North America’s highest mountain, or embark on a Denali glacier landing by helicopter.
Continue north to Fairbanks and a sternwheeler river cruise into the Alaskan Interior on the Chena and Tanana Rivers. Then return south for a flightseeing tour of the McCarthy-Kennicott region on the edge of the Wrangell mountains. Explore spectacular Root Glacier on a guided ice hike and the Kennicott Mines, early 20th century copper mines.
Head south through the Chugach Mountains to beautiful Valdez on Prince William Sound, famous for its glaciers, inlets and fjords. Take an epic cruise to the huge Columbia Glacier and watch wildlife including porpoises, puffins, sea lions and otters.
Return to Anchorage via idyllic Sheep Mountain Lodge, surrounded by hiking trails filled with abundant birdlife and wildflowers.

Our expert's opinion
“Alaska is unlike anywhere in the world with so many highlights. Whether you drive or take a cruise, you’re guaranteed to see incredible natural spectacles. My favourite has to be the Columbia Glacier – it’s unforgettable to watch huge boulders of ice break off a glacier and hear the thunderous roar as they crash into the ocean.”
