Itinerary
Day 1 North of Anchorage to the Chugach Mountains
Collect your Cruise America motorhome from the Anchorage depot and drive north-east on the Glenn Highway. You’ll pass Eagle River and Chugiak and continue to Palmer, about an hour from Anchorage. Pass through the Eklutna Flats and enjoy views of the Chugach and Talkeetna Mountains. Consider an airboat tour to see Knick Glacier. Take the Old Glenn Highway exit and drive to Knick Glacier Adventures, 20 miles from Palmer.

Days 2-3 Towering Mount Denali and Denali National Park
From Palmer drive to Denali National Park on the Parks Highway through the Matanuska-Susitna Valley and Denali State Park. Consider a side trip to Talkeetna on the way. Denali contains six million acres of wild landscapes, populated by wildlife and bisected by a single road. See the taiga forest give way to high alpine tundra and snow-capped mountains, the highest of which is Denali (formerly Mount McKinley), North America’s tallest peak at 6,100m.

Days 4-5 Denali National Park to Fairbanks
Enjoy a seven-hour Tundra Wildlife Tour into Denali National Park. The park is inhabited by a plethora of wildlife including bears, caribou, moose, sheep and wolves. Mount Denali is visible if the weather is clear and a snack lunch is included. In the afternoon, take the Parks Highway north through incredible forest and mountain landscapes, past the communities of Healy, Nenana and Ester, an old gold mining camp, before arriving in Fairbanks.

Day 6 Hiking and fishing on Copper River
Today you head to Paxson or Glennallen, following the Richardson Highway until Delta Junction. Drive by North Pole, the home of North America’s Santa Claus. In Delta Junction take the Richardson Highway and drive south towards Paxson/Glennallen. The Copper River has world-class salmon fishing, as well as hiking, rafting and flightseeing.

Day 7 The Chugach Mountains and Valdez
Head south today to Valdez. Enjoy a spectacular drive on the Richardson Highway, offering incredible views of the Wrangell Mountains. Pass Worthington Glacier, and through Keystone Canyon with its waterfalls. Arrive in Valdez, famous for its the crashing glaciers beneath the towering Chugach mountains.

Day 8 Prince William Sound and Portage Glacier
This morning, board the Alaska Marine Highway Ferry to Whittier, travelling through the fjords of beautiful Prince William Sound. Then drive through the Whittier Portage Tunnel and the Seward Highway through scenic landscape to Seward. The Begich Boggs Visitor Center has exhibits including a simulated ice cave with live ice worms. Take a sightseeing boat cruise on Portage Lake or hike a number of trails for a closer look at the incredible Portage Glacier.

Days 9-10 Kenai Fjords and glaciers of Harding Icefield
Head back on the Seward Highway to Anchorage. On the way, visit Kenai Fjords National Park to see some of most pristine, rugged glacial scenery in North America. The massive Harding Icefield feeds the 38 glaciers of the park. Enjoy a Wildlife and Glacier cruise into Kenai Fjords National Park to spot wildlife including whales.

Day 11 Tour ends in Anchorage
Return your motorhome to the Cruise America depot and take your flight home.
